Advertising policy
Advertising policy
Our corporate policy is never to show ads on our own sites, nor in our own applications. The following advertising policy applies only to ads we run on third-party sites for our own products.
We will not work with advertisers, analytics companies, or any other parties who intentionally attempt to circumvent or otherwise defeat ad-blocking or anti-tracking measures such as Do Not Track, (e.g., Criteo). Furthemore, we will not use CNAME cookies or otherwise help third parties masquerade as first party on our own sites. If you have reason to believe that any third party we work with is engaging in these activities, please promptly inform the DPO and present your evidence.
Any targeting performed by our ad campaigns must be approved by the DPO.
Ad campaigns in general must be approved by the Director.
We frown upon microtargeting, though what is meant by this term is very subjective. Over time, we will develop our own definition. At the moment, our definition of microtargeting includes, but is not limited to:
- Anything that could be used to target an indidivual.
- Socio-economic status.
- Postcodes.
- Income.
Ad campaigns must not target protected characteristics such as ethnicity or religion, nor special categories as defined by the UK GDPR. If in doubt, check with the DPO.
Specific advertising networks must be vetted and approved by the DPO before we use them. This includes a technical review of the specific trackers/third-party cookies used by these networks.
The current list of approved advertising networks and their specific products is:
We currently have a blanket ban on using any Meta (aka Facebook) advertising networks.
